The advantages of using carbon brushes above copper and other materials

The use of workzone and JCB carbon brushes is increasing rapidly in the motors instead of copper and other fiber material brushes. The carbon brush is placed in the motor at a place that helps the transmission of current from static to dynamic part of the generator or motor. Here are some of the benefits of using carbon brushes over other materials.

Excellent Melting point
The carbon material has the highest melting point than copper and other fiber materials. It can sustain the motor temperature of about 3550 degrees Celsius that is the melting point of carbon. The copper has a melting point of only 1080 degrees Celsius. The workzone carbon brushes are placed right next to the commutator of the Dc motor. It experiences friction and spark in that area. Therefore, the high melting point becomes the prime reason for using carbon brushes over other materials.
Carbon metal is soft
The softness of the carbon brush makes it perfect for use amidst the commutator. Due to the rotating speed of the motor, the brushes will not damage the commutator due to its soft property. The copper material is very hard in nature, and it might damage the commutator with the implementation of copper brushes.
Elasticity property
The JCB carbon brushes have high elasticity property that helps it attain the shape of the commutator during the functioning of the motor. Even if the brush is new, it will acquire the shape of the commutator in no time.
These are a few of the advantages or benefits of using carbon brushes over copper and other fiber materials. These are mainly used in different machines for transmitting the electricity from static parts to the dynamic rotating part of the generator, motor, or other DC machines.
